Minot already thinking about snow

It’s not too early for Minot’s public works director to start thinking about snow. Alan Walter is proposing new rules on how to move the snow off city streets this winter. He said his office has been working on the plan for months.

MINOT (AP) — It’s not too early for Minot’s public works director to start thinking about snow.

Alan Walter is proposing new rules on how to move the snow off city streets this winter. He said his office has been working on the plan for months.

Walter said one major change would be a snow removal schedule to help reduce the number of cars parked in the path of snowplows.

That was a big problem when the city got hit by major storms last winter.

Walker said residents would be advised when they can park on certain streets.

Another part of the plan reduces the length of time a vehicle can be parked on a residential street without being moved, from 96 hours to 48 hours.

Walter’s plan will go to the City Council, which meets Monday.
