BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Former South Dakota Sen. George McGovern is in North Dakota this week to promote his latest book, ``Abraham Lincoln.'

The work that's about the nation's 16th president was released in December.

McGovern is a three-term senator and the 1972 Democratic presidential nominee. He'll speak Tuesday evening at Dickinson State University and Wednesday at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. Both events are free to the public.

McGovern said Lincoln saved the union and did not waver in his opposition to slavery but also made mistakes.
