N.D. corn, soybean crops adjusted up

The forecast for North Dakota soybean and corn crops increased slightly from last month, but expected sugar beet production dropped a bit.

FARGO (AP) — The forecast for North Dakota soybean and corn crops increased slightly from last month, but expected sugar beet production dropped a bit.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said soybean production is forecast at 120 million bushels, up 3 percent from the August forecast and 14 percent from last year.

Corn for grain production is expected to be 204 million bushels, up 2 percent from the August forecast but down 28 percent from last year’s record high production.

Sugar beet output is predicted to be nearly 5.5 million tons, down 4 percent from the August forecast but 7 percent above last year.
