N.D. day care providers eligible for loans, grants

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — New programs offer grants and low-interest loans to North Dakota day care operators.
State Commerce Commissioner Shane Goettle, whose department oversees the programs, said they aim to help with building needs and business planning.
Gov. John Hoeven joined Goettle, parents and legislators at a news conference Monday to discuss the grants.
One program provides matching grants for infrastructure and business planning. Day care providers are required to provide $1 in matching funds for every $3 in grant funds. The other program provides up to $100,000 in low-interest loans from the state Development Fund for real estate, remodeling, equipment or working capital.
Officials say both programs are available until June 30, 2011.
