MDU predicts lower heating costs

BISMARCK (AP) — Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. says customers will pay about 12 percent less for natural gas to heat their homes this fall and winter compared with last year.

The Bismarck-based utility is projecting a $65 decrease for average residential home heating bills over five months, from November through March.

The company said natural gas prices have dropped because of more production and less demand, leading to record storage levels.

Montana-Dakota Utilities is a unit of MDU Resources Group Inc., based in Bismarck. The utility serves about 239,000 natural gas customers in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming.
