Mental health workshop planned
North Dakota State University Distance and Continuing Education, in collaboration with Terence Barrett, are offering a Mental Health Practice and Law workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 30, in the NDSU Distance and Continuing Education classroom at the SGC Building. The workshop will explore the impact of the law on various aspects of mental health practice and is designed for counselors, social workers, psychologists, therapists and clergy.

The workshop will explore the impact of the law on various aspects of mental health practice and is designed for counselors, social workers, psychologists, therapists and clergy.
The Mental Health Practice and Law Workshop will offer practical guidelines for managing a variety of common legal concerns, review of various ethical standards of practice in case studies and avoiding professional role confusion in legal matters. This workshop is 5.5 continuing education contact hours. Continuing education units have been approved for National Board for Certified Counselors, North Dakota social workers as well as general continuing education unit requests. The cost is $99 per participant with lunch included.
Barrett is a licensed psychologist in Fargo with experience in childhood trauma, sexual assault, torture, crime and war. He teaches courses in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, abnormal psychology, understanding suicide and understanding self-injury.
