BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa is getting about $455,000 in federal stimulus money.
The money through the Justice Department's Office on Violence Against Women will be used to hire three aides and increase services at the Hearts of Hope Domestic Violence Shelter.
The YWCA Cass Clay in Fargo and Bismarck's Abused Adult Resource Center got similar grants earlier.
Attorney General Eric Holder says American Indian and Alaska Native women are more likely than women of other racial or ethnic groups to be victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
