Man sentenced for hitting baby with hamper
A man accused of slamming a wicker hamper into the head of his 6-month old son has been ordered to serve five years in prison.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of slamming a wicker hamper into the head of his 6-month old son has been ordered to serve five years in prison.
Dantonie Blount of Fargo pleaded guilty in July to a felony child neglect charge. He said in court Monday that he regrets his actions in April against his son. He told Judge Steven Marquart: ``I just wish I could take everything back.'
Authorities say Blount also bit the boy, and told police he was upset that the child would not stop crying.
In sentencing Blount, Marquart split the difference between the three years sought by the defense and the seven years sought by prosecutors.
