Deer hunting allowed at two state parks

Limited deer hunting will be allowed at Fort Stevenson State Park, near Garrison and Grahams Island State Park, southwest of Devils Lake.

Limited deer hunting will be allowed at Fort Stevenson State Park, near Garrison and Grahams Island State Park, southwest of Devils Lake.

Beginning Oct. 1 bow hunting for antlered or antlerless deer will be permitted at Fort Stevenson State Park. Bow hunters will need a special park permit, available free at the park office during regular business hours, as well as a valid North Dakota bow license and unused tag. Hunters will also need a current park entrance permit on their vehicle while on park land. For more information contact 337-5576.

Hunters may pursue deer at Grahams Island State Park during the bow, gun and muzzleloader seasons this year. The park is also open to turkey hunting beginning Oct. 10. Hunters must have the appropriate license, unused tag, a park entrance sticker and must apply for a special park hunting permit. Park permits are available at the park office during normal business hours or by contacting 766-4015.

Grahams Island State Park will be closed to all visitors except hunters during the deer gun season from Nov. 6 through Nov. 22.
