Teen killed in three-vehicle accident

An 18-year-old was killed in a three-vehicle accident in Wahpeton, N.D., Thursday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Antoinette Gjesdal, 18, Wahpeton, was driving a 2005 Pontiac westbound on 16th Avenue North around 1:30 p.m. Gjesdal entered an intersection at 16th Avenue and Highway 210 and was struck by a northbound 2005 International semi tractor and trailer driven by Cathleen Mary Dean, 52, Barney, N.D.

The Pontiac then struck a third vehicle, a 2007 Kia driven by Mary Motzko, 37, Wahpeton that was southbound on Highway 10 and stopped at a stoplight.

Dean and Motzko were transported to St. Francis Medical Center for injuries.

Gjesdal was transported to Vertin Munson Funeral Home.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation, the patrols aid.
