Mott-Regent takes over top spot in nine-man

There’s a new No. 1 in nine-man football.
Mott-Regent (5-0) ascended to the top of this week’s North Dakota nine-man football poll, getting nine of 11 first-place votes. Wyndmere-Lidgerwood (5-0) got the other two first-place votes and moved up one spot to No. 2.
New Rockford-Sheyenne (4-1), unranked last week, moved into the poll at No. 3 after handing previously-unbeaten Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter its first loss on Friday. The Imperials (4-1) slipped from No. 1 to No. 4.
Wells County (4-1) received votes.
In the Class A rankings, Watford City (5-0) remains the No. 1 team. Velva (5-0) moved up one spot to No. 2.
Harvey (4-1) remains No. 5, while Linton-HMB (4-1) and Oakes (5-0) received votes.
The season’s fourth North Dakota Class A and nine-man football polls as compiled by The Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. Each team is followed by first-place votes in parentheses, records, total points and last week’s ranking.
