Seymour was born and raised in New Rockford. He majored in literature at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and Georgetown University. After graduating in 1989, Seymour moved to New York, where he’s since worked in the editorial departments at Atlantic Monthly Press, Rolling Stone, Men’s Journal, Travel & Leisure Golf and Men’s Vogue as a senior editor. He’s the author, with Rolling Stone co-founder Jann S. Wenner, of “Gonzo: An Oral Biography of Hunter S. Thompson.”
The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literary reading in American popular culture. Reading at Risk: A Survey of Literary Reading in America, a 2004 NEA report, identified a critical decline in reading for pleasure among American adults. The Big Read addresses this issue by bringing communities together to read, discuss, and celebrate books and writers from American and world literature. Books are available free of charge at Latte Lobby and all events are free of charge. For more information, call 701-947-2174 or check www.dprca.com.
