Richman reports at Hospital Auxiliary

He described the new technology utilized at the hospital including the HUG system in the nursery and a higher resolution CAT scan unit in radiology. Alice Williams presided at a recent meeting of the Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary with 18 members present. Marty Richman reported that road construction was beginning at the new hospital site. He described the new technology utilized at the hospital including the HUG system in the nursery and a higher resolution CAT scan unit in radiology. Nurses may soon have a new communication system that will save time and steps.

Recently, Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary members pledged $70,000 over five years which brings their total gifts to the quarter million dollar level and gave them an opportunity to name the entrance to the new hospital’s Mammography Suite, “A Gift of Jamestown Hospital Auxiliary.”

Darlene Kropp, Joyce Roorda and Ginne Hendrickson reported on a recent gift shop managers’ workshop they attended at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Highlights of this meeting included a visit to the Medcenter One and St. Alexis gift shops. They reported that coffee corners are becoming popular in hospital gift shops.

Williams, Ellen Wirk-kunen and Jeanette Srozinski recently attended the District I fall seminar in Lisbon, N.D. Opportunities for sharing ideas, entertainment and good food were the highlights.

Christmas Magic is planned for Nov. 13 in room 446 at Jamestown Hospital. New Christmas items, handmade articles and baked goods make this annual event a special way to do some Christmas shopping while supporting the auxiliary. The Gift Shoppe at the hospital also features many holiday articles for sale.

Lavonne Magstadt and Marlys Perleberg are co-chairs of the annual Tree of Love. During December, heart-shaped ornaments are available for purchase in honor or memory of loved ones.

Verna Peterson won the door prize, which was a decorated pumpkin hand painted by Madelyn Hoffer. The auxiliary’s next meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the Emil Wieland Boardroom at Jamestown Hospital. The public is invited to attend.
