Flags at half-staff for fort victims
In accordance with a directive issued by President Barack Obama, Gov. John Hoeven on Friday directed all government agencies in North Dakota to fly U.S. and North Dakota flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset until Nov. 11, in honor of the victims at the Fort Hood shootings.

“On behalf of the people of North Dakota, Mikey and I extend our deepest sympathies to those who were injured and to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of yesterday’s deadly attack at Fort Hood,” Hoeven said in a press release. “Our state and nation grieve the loss of these American heroes and stand ready to support the Fort Hood community, as well as our brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our nation and preserve our way of life.”
