CLEVELAND, Texas (AP) — Authorities called to check on a family’s well-being in a rural southeast Texas home found the bodies of four people in what they’re calling a triple murder-suicide.
San Jacinto County Capt. Carl Jones said Monday that 43-year-old Oliver Bills Jr. fatally shot his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter and his adopted mother, 71-year-old Gloria Bills. Jones says Bills then killed himself.
Sheriff James Walters said the gunman “might have been off his medication.” He declined to elaborate.
Jones said a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-caliber gun were used in the shootings.
Authorities didn’t immediately release the names of Bills’ girlfriend or the 4-year-old girl. Both of them lived with Bills in the house that is about is about 55 miles north of Houston.
