Game wardens are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying whoever shot a bull elk in western Stutsman County this past weekend.

James Myhre, district game warden for the Jamestown area, said the elk was shot on Nov. 7 three miles west and two miles south of Woodworth.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Myhre at 327-4232 or the Report all Poachers hotline at 800-472-2121.

Officials believe the animal wondered into the area from western North Dakota and is not a game farm escapee.

Sun reporter Keith Norman can be reached at (701) 952-8452 or by e-mail at knorman@jamestownsun.com
