Man gets 15 years for child sex crimes

A Bottineau man convicted of child sex crimes has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison. Acting U.S. Attorney Lynn Jordheim said the 15 years is a mandatory minimum sentence. Thirty-four-year-old Darren Henry will be on supervised release for five years following the prison term.

MINOT (AP) — A Bottineau man convicted of child sex crimes has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lynn Jordheim said the 15 years is a mandatory minimum sentence. Thirty-four-year-old Darren Henry will be on supervised release for five years following the prison term.

Henry was accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a young girl for 10 months last year and having numerous pictures on his computer of the girl engaged in sex. He was found guilty in July on sexual exploitation and child pornography charges. He faced up to 40 years in prison.

Henry was employed as a border agent at the time of the crime. He was not accused of using his position of authority in the commission of the crime.
