Authorities identify couple found dead

Pembina County authorities are treating the deaths of a husband and wife whose bodies were found in a Walhalla home on Thanksgiving as a murder-suicide.

WALHALLA, N.D. (AP) — Pembina County authorities are treating the deaths of a husband and wife whose bodies were found in a Walhalla home on Thanksgiving as a murder-suicide.

The sheriff’s office said 52-year-old John Kalis and 41-year-old Sharon Kalis were found dead in the home after a 911 call about a domestic dispute at about 3 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities said a final determination on the nature of the deaths will not be made until after autopsies are done.

Walhalla is in North Dakota’s northeast corner.
