As part of the “Move to Grow” program, plans were being developed for Lions Clubs in the district to plant bur oak trees in their communities in conjunction with Arbor Day.

Also addressing the club was Donna Ruff, who serves as a regional chair. She outlined plans for fund raising for the Leader Dogs for the Blind, which is the nation’s largest school for training assistance dogs.

The Medina Lions Club finalized plans and made work assignments for its annual pancake, French toast and sausage brunch to be held this year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Medina American Legion Hall. The event is held to support a number of community projects by the club.

Medina Lions members received 70th anniversary pins from the Leader Dogs for the club’s donations. The group also made a donation to the Great Plains Assistance Dogs program, located at Jud. The club also ordered new Lions logo highway replacement signs to be put up on roads into Medina. It was reported that more than 50 children attended the club’s annual Halloween party held at the city auditorium. Pictures of the event were featured in the state Lions Club newsletter.

The next meeting of the Medina Lions will be at noon Wednesday at the Medina Café. Medina Superintendent of Schools Tom Rettig will be the speaker.
