DRAYTON, N.D. – A semi-trailer jack-knifed on Interstate 29 this morning, spilling about 300 gallons of diesel fuel near here, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
At about 9:20 a.m., Alagaiah Jegatheeswaran of Scarborough, Ont., was traveling south on I-29 from Winnipeg to Fargo when he lost control of his 2005 Volvo semi-trailer just south of the Drayton, the patrol said.
The semi entered the median and sustained damage to its right side and fuel tank, which punctured, spilling the fuel into the median. The patrol said road conditions were ice and snow-covered at the time of the accident.
The North Dakota Department of Health and North Dakota Department of Transportation aided in the clean-up of the spill, the patrol said. Jegatheeswaran was not injured. Also responding to the accident was the Walsh County Sheriff’s Department.
