County using lasers for flooding

MINOT (AP) — Ward County has a new high-tech tool to use in the battle against flooding. The Minot Daily News reported that officials are using Laser Detection and Ranging, which uses pulses from an overhead laser to determine ground elevations. A special airplane conducted flyovers of the county in recent years, creating an accurate contour map of areas of the county that may be flooded.
