Even with mild winter, more homeless seek shelter
A mild start to the winter has helped Grand Forks’ Northlands Rescue Mission save on its heating bill, but the homeless shelter near downtown is busier, and more crowded, than in last year’s much colder winter. “It’s actually gone up,” Executive Director David Sena said Friday. “Right now, the last couple of nights we’ve averaged seven people in our dining room sleeping on mattresses because we’re on overflow.”By: By Ryan Johnson , Forum Communications Co., The Jamestown Sun
