Warnings credited in Midwest tornado outbreak

THURMAN, Iowa — Concerned that Midwesterners might be complacent after repeated tornado warnings came to nothing, forecasters issued a sternly worded alert, well in advance, that weekend storms could prove fatal. The warnings caught Larry Hill’s attention.
