‘Slapshot’ town embraces Indian nickname, logo: Johnstown, Pa., revives North American junior hockey league’s Chiefs team under new name: Tomahawks

While the trend nationally has been for prep and collegiate sports teams to move away from American Indian-themed nicknames and logos, the new North American Hockey League Junior A team in Johnstown, Pa., announced Wednesday that it will be known as the Tomahawks.
