Long week at homeless shelters: Cold weather over week brings overflow of people at Churches United

It takes guts to step outside in sub-freezing temperatures with the wind blowing in off the prairie. It takes more guts to do it when you’re a couple of days in from Florida – with no job, two kids under 2 years old, and using a roll-out mat in the pastor’s office at a homeless shelter is the closest thing you and your children have to call home.
