Alvin Swanson, a resident of Ave Maria Village, greets Sheldon, the new therapy dog at the village Wednesday. Sheldon was trained by Great Plains Assistance Dogs of Jud, N.D., but hip problems prevented him from being placed as a service dog. His new duties are spending time with the Ave Maria residents.
