In this July 2 photo, Mark Mansell stands by at a “Welcome to North Dakota” sign along the western border during a brief stop as part of his cross-country bicycle ride to raise awareness and $50,000 for a nonprofit organization called Leader Dogs for the Blind. Mansell began his trip in Portland, Ore., and is expected to reach Portland, Maine, by Aug. 5.
