Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther shows off the fire department’s new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Friday at the Jamestown fire hall. The unit, which will be used for underwater search and rescue, cost $87,000 — $24,000 of which was paid for by an ROV fundraiser spearheaded by Leanne Buckley. Buckley was a longtime partner of Darrin Ackerman, whose body was recovered using an ROV after he drowned in a December ice-fishing accident on the Jamestown Reservoir. The additional $63,000 was paid for by Homeland Security Department grant funds awarded by the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services.
