Gary R. Fode, 69, Jamestown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Mr. Fode was born Feb. 6, 1941, at Jamestown, the son of Theodore and Norma (Yetterboe) Fode.
Gary R. Fode, 69, Jamestown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
Mr. Fode was born Feb. 6, 1941, at Jamestown, the son of Theodore and Norma (Yetterboe) Fode. He grew up and attended school in Jud, N.D., graduating in 1959 as valedictorian. He attended college for office machine repair in Wahpeton, N.D., for two years. He moved to Jamestown and worked repairing office machines. He entered the U.S. Army on Nov. 3, 1961, at Fargo, N.D. He served overseas and was discharged on Oct. 26, 1963, with the rank of private first class. He married Mary (Geiger) Johnson on Jan. 24, 1966. They later divorced. He repaired office machines until 1989. He enjoyed camping, going to coffee, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Mary, Jamestown; a step-son, Richard Johnson, Jamestown; two step-daughters, Jo Marie (Curt) Wiest, Jamestown, and Vickie (Mark) Lura, Sanborn, N.D.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd; a daughter, Terri; and a brother, Kenneth.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Visitation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial: Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, N.D., in the spring.
