Esther Dean, 81, Jamestown, died, Aug. 7, 2010, at Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minn. Esther Amelia Murch was born Oct. 1, 1928, near Arthur, N.D., the daughter of Alice (Keller) and Sidney Murch Sr.

Esther Dean, 81, Jamestown, died, Aug. 7, 2010, at Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, Minn.

Esther Amelia Murch was born Oct. 1, 1928, near Arthur, N.D., the daughter of Alice (Keller) and Sidney Murch Sr. She grew up in Jamestown, where she married. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown, the North Dakota State Hospital, Jamestown, and was a daycare provider. She lived in Laurel, Mont., Clearwater, Minn., and recently spent winters in Nevada, Mo. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She is survived by three sons, Richard (Terry), Whitehall, Ohio, Byron (Denise), Billings, Mont., and Bruce (Wendi), Jamestown; three daughters, Debbie (Jim) Martens, Billings, Connie (Lynn) Anderson, Nevada, and Diana Enzminger, Jamestown; a brother, Everett (Marcella), Jamestown; a stepbrother, DuWayne (JoAnn) Perry, Bumpass, Va.; seven sisters, June Winings, Detroit Lakes, Joyce Telkin, Starke, Fla., Yvonne (Earling) Sevik, Grand Junction, Colo., Cel (Bernard) Sundeen, Cleveland, N.D., Phyllis (Ed) Hodgson, Roosevelt, Minn., Ardell Goff, Jamestown, and Leona Wilson, Fargo, N.D.; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Edna (Schumacher) Perry Murch; two brothers, Sidney Jr. and Ernie; a sister Betty; and a stepsister, Annabel (Perry) Church.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, United Methodist Church, Cleveland, with the Rev. David Fisher officiating.

Prayer service: 7 p.m. Friday, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, to hospice or Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.
