Bob Zehm

Bob Zehm, 89, Nevada, Iowa, formerly James-town, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at his home. Mr. Zehm was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Newark, S.D. He grew up in rural eastern Montana.

Bob Zehm, 89, Nevada, Iowa, formerly James-town, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Zehm was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Newark, S.D. He grew up in rural eastern Montana. He served as an ambulance driver and medic in Africa and Europe during World War II. He married Mary Schneider on June 5, 1947, in Mildred, Mont. They farmed in the Mildred and Fallon, Mont., area. They moved to Jamestown in 1964. He helped start Bake N Serve (later Dakota Brands) frozen bread company. They moved to Nevada in 1968, where he was the manager of Bake N Serve. They returned to North Dakota in 1975, where he worked for the company in the quality control department. He retired in 1991. She died in 2001. He later moved back to rural Nevada. He was a member of the Nevada Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed gardening and flowers.

He is survived by three daughters, Jackie Harmon, Valli Holland and Joni Steffens; a son, Ed; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Danny.

Private family service: Jan. 2, 2011. Arrangements by Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory, Nevada.

Burial: Mildred, Mont., at a later date.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, to Nevada Seventh-day Adventist Church, Nevada.
