Lydena Ruff, 56, Gackle, N.D., died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D.

Lydena Henke was born Oct. 6, 1954, at Jamestown, the daughter of Elmer and Delores (Dehne) Henke. She attended elementary school in Alfred, N.D., and graduated in 1972 from Gackle High School. She graduated from Mr. D’s Town & Country Beauty College, Jamestown, and owned and operated Dena’s Beauty Shop, Gackle, for many years. She married Jerome Ruff on Oct. 1, 1976, in Gackle. They lived southeast of Gackle where they operated a small grain and dairy farm. He died in 1997 and she moved into Gackle. She worked at Wal-Mart, Jamestown. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Gackle, where she held many offices in the church. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crocheting.

She is survived by a daughter, Stacy Ruff, Gackle; two sons, Ryan (Malauree), Pingree, N.D., and Robert, Gackle; her mother, Bismarck, N.D.; three brothers, Loren (Roxanne), Wishek, N.D., Larry (Marguerite), Zimmerman, Minn., and Lynn (Pam), Bismarck; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, with the Rev. Linda Schauer officiating.

Prayer service: 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle.

Burial: Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, in the spring.
