Robert Beglau, 77, Laurel, Mont., formerly Jamestown, ND

Robert Beglau, 77, Laurel, Mont., died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in Laurel, Mont.

Mr. Beglau was born Dec. 16, 1933, in Jamestown, the son of Johann and Bertha (Schlenker) Beglau. He attended and graduated Jamestown High School in 1951. He entered the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He served as a military policeman and received a good conduct medal. He moved to Montana in 1968. He married Beverly Jeanne Tkachyk Phillips in 1971. He worked for Interstate Detroit Diesel in parts and inventory control and retired in 1998. He returned to work at Dilliard’s from 2004 to 2008 and officially retired. He enjoyed traveling, oil painting and singing with The Hillbilly Group, a Christian group.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Ted L. (Lenora) Phillips Jr.; three daughters, April (Marty) Stooksberry, Valori (Dennis) Westerlin and Lisa (Paul) Fabian; a brother, Gene Beglau; three sisters, Betty Larson, Dorothy Summerdorf and Shirley (Joe) Lynch; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.

Memorial service: held June 9.

Burial: Yellowstone County Veterans Cemetery.
