Alice Nitschke, 97, Rose Hill, Kan.

Alice Nitschke, 97, Rose Hill, Kan., died Monday, July 18, 2011, at Lake Point Nursing Home, Rose Hill.

Alice Zimmerman was born June 21, 1914, at the family farm northeast of Gackle, N.D., the daughter of Gottlieb and Jacobina (Kerner) Zimmerman. She attended the local rural school where she received her elementary education and grew up in the area. She married Otto Ammon on Oct. 10, 1935, in Jamestown. They lived on a farm northeast of Gackle until 1940 when they moved into Gackle. He died Dec. 27, 1969. She married William Nitschke on June 13, 1971, in Gackle. They lived on a farm southwest of Fredonia, N.D., until 1987 when they moved to Jamestown. He died Jan. 14, 1990. She moved to Rose Hill in 2004.

She is survived by two daughters, DeVaris Wegner, Rose Hill, and Diana (Norman) Kiger, Garden Grove, Calif.; and a son, Dale Ammon, Wichita, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren,

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, DeNeil; her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, with the Rev. Tim Blackman officiating. Arrangements by Haut Funeral Homes, Gackle.
