Melvin T. Wirrenga, 75, Ypsilanti, ND, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home near Ypsilanti. Melvin “Mel” was born October 1, 1936 southwest of Montpelier, ND, the son of Lawrence and Christine (Krein) Wirrenga.
Melvin T. Wirrenga, 75, Ypsilanti, ND, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home near Ypsilanti.
Melvin “Mel” was born October 1, 1936 southwest of Montpelier, ND, the son of Lawrence and Christine (Krein) Wirrenga. He graduated from Nortonville High School. He was a member of the National Guard based in Edgeley, ND. On June 14, 1975 Mel married Josephine Willey in Ypsilanti. He lived in the Ypsilanti area and farmed in the Nortonville area all his life. Josephine died on October 13, 1995.
Mel’s hobbies included hunting and mechanical work.
Mel is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Verna Wirrenga, Jamestown; three nephews, Wayne (Karlene) Wirrenga, Dion (Shannon) Wirrenga and Davin (Kristi) Wirrenga; and six great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral Service: 3:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Montpelier Lutheran Church, Montpelier, ND, with Pastor Terry Anderson officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.
Burial: Ypsilanti Cemetery, Ypsilanti, ND.
