Lee Roy Steinmetz, 71, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown. Lee was born February 26, 1940 in Kulm, ND, the son of Jacob and Rose (Meidinger) Steinmetz.
Lee Roy Steinmetz, 71, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.
Lee was born February 26, 1940 in Kulm, ND, the son of Jacob and Rose (Meidinger) Steinmetz. He attended school in Dickey County. Lee entered the US Army on February 6, 1959 in Ellendale, ND. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1961 and returned to North Dakota. He custom combined with his uncle and brother throughout the Midwest. Lee married Janice Dalke in 1970 in Ellendale. He worked as a farm laborer in Garden City, KS for approximately 30 years. Upon his retirement in 2004, they moved to Jamestown.
Lee enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren.
Lee is survived by his wife, Janice, Jamestown; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Sid Flores, Holcomb, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry (Lindsay Nannenga) Steinmetz, Jamestown; seven grandchildren; one brother, Delbert (Cecelia) Steinmetz, Ellendale, ND; and two sisters, Kathy (Gordon) Irion, Kulm and Arlene Hehr, Fredonia, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbert and James; and one brother-in-law, Lester Hehr.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bryce Tahran officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.
Burial at a later date: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
