Verna J. Luer, 79, Jamestown, ND, passed away on January 14, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown. Verna Jean Braunberger was born March 2, 1932 in McClusky, ND, the daughter of Ludwig and Maggie (Burkhart) Braunberger.
Verna J. Luer, 79, Jamestown, ND, passed away on January 14, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.
Verna Jean Braunberger was born March 2, 1932 in McClusky, ND, the daughter of Ludwig and Maggie (Burkhart) Braunberger. She attended school in Jamestown. On August 31, 1951 Verna married Walter Luer in Clay County and they lived in Jamestown. She worked for many years in the public, meeting and making lifelong friends. She worked at the Gladstone Motel, Charlie’s Supper Club, the 20 Club, American Legion and the Eagles, working for Charlie Tanata for 25 years. She was a cook at the Knights of Columbus from 1989 to 2006, helped the Rotary Club cook spaghetti for their yearly spaghetti fundraiser. Prior to her retirement in 2008 she was employed at the Jamestown Sun as an inserter. She became a resident of Rock of Ages and then the Roseadele Care Center.
Verna enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She liked to play bingo and socialize with people.
Verna is survived by three daughters, Paula (Joe) Scudder, Wichita, KS, Wanda Luer and Brenda Luer, both of Jamestown; three grandchildren, Nick Barton, Wichita, KS, Becky (Bob) Fiss, Ashley, ND and Kaylee Olson, Jamestown; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jake (Judy) Braunberger, Jamestown and Irvin (Jeannie) Braunberger, Casper, WY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wayne; four sisters and one brother.
Memorial Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with Pastor Thomas Eckstein officiating.
Family will be greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home
Burial at a later date: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
