Harriet Wooddell

Harriet Wooddell, 89, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home under hospice care. Harriet Baenen was born March 31, 1922 in Sydney township, North Dakota, the daughter of Bernard J. and Mathilda (Neidecken) Baenen. She attended rural school in Sydney township and graduated from St. John’s Academy.

Harriet Wooddell, 89, Jamestown, ND, died Monday, February 6, 2012 at her home under hospice care.

Harriet Baenen was born March 31, 1922 in Sydney township, North Dakota, the daughter of Bernard J. and Mathilda (Neidecken) Baenen. She attended rural school in Sydney township and graduated from St. John’s Academy. On April 8, 1944 Harriet married Willis Wooddell in Jamestown. They lived on a farm in Windsor township. Harriet worked at the ND State Hospital from 1972 to 1990. They moved into Jamestown in February 1993 and have made their home here since.

Harriet was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Eldridge Circle and a lifetime member of the Priscilla Altar Guild. She enjoyed crocheting and socializing with family and friends.

Harriet is survived by her husband, Willis, Jamestown; two sons, Arlo Baenen, Orlando, FL and Royce (Gail) Wooddell, Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; and one daughter-in-law.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Peter Strommen officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Jamestown Regional Medical Center Hospice.
