Millard Hill, 76, of Jamestown, ND, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Millard Hill was born August 2, 1935, in Woodworth, ND, the son of Martin and Jeanette (Ferguson) Hill. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school, graduating from Woodworth High School. Millard married Doris Reed at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Woodworth on February 2, 1958. Millard learned the trade of welding in Troy, OH, then returned to Woodworth where he worked for Joe Anderson for 30 years. He helped engineer a hay stacker and was the top salesman in the area for many years. Millard and Doris moved to Jamestown where he continued to work for Haybuster Mfg. Later Millard started his own custom farming business with his son Rick. After he retired he went to work part time at J & L service where he enjoyed many of his customers.
His greatest love was his family. He enjoyed telling stories to his children and grandchildren about the "good old days." Millard had a very big heart and like the old saying "he would give his shirt off his back if you needed it”. He also had a love for animals and would many times bring a animal in need home and care for it. He enjoyed helping out with the horses and dogs when his daughters needed his help.
Millard will be greatly missed by his wife, Doris Hill; two daughters, Julie (Marty) Zachrison and Connie (Robert) Sitzmann; six grandchildren, Alexis and Nikki Zachrison, Garrett Hill, Tallie (Danny) Schneider, Bobbi (Jeremy) Rham, and Joe Sitzmann, Jr.; and one great grandchild, Landry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Rick Hill.
