Ruth Hegg, 88, Jamestown, ND, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. She was currently a resident of Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Ruth Hegg, 88, Jamestown, ND, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. She was currently a resident of Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Ruth Margarete Martinson Hegg was born January 13, 1924 on the family farm in Kulm, ND to Kasper and Agnes Christopherson Martinson. She was educated at Pomona View No. 2 School in LaMoure County.
Ruth moved to Jamestown in 1944 and then to Fargo, ND several years later to work in the home of Sam and Helen Stern as a cook. In 1954 she married Gilman E. Hegg in Moorhead, MN, and in 1961 they moved to Jamestown. There Ruth worked part time as a housekeeper, and was a babysitter for her two grandchildren, RoAnne and Ross. Among her greatest pleasures were cooking and baking, especially wonderful pastries for her family and friends, and serving her guests strong Norwegian coffee.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Doug) Klaudt, Jamestown, grandchildren, RoAnne (Dustin Hanson) Holzworth, Mason City, IA; Ross (Katie) Holzworth, Davenport, IA; step grandchildren, Levi Klaudt, Prescott, WI; Lisa (Ryan) Gellner, West Fargo, ND; one step great-grandson, Cruz Gellner, West Fargo, ND; one sister, Myrtle Merkel, Groton, SD; one sister-in-law, Ruby Martinson, Kulm, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Agot Konrad; and brothers, Kaare, Alf, Ervin, Arthur, Roy, and an infant brother.
Funeral Service: 1:00 PM, Friday, May 18, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Leon Zavadil officiating.
Visitation: 12:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
