James "Jim" T. Schmidt, 51, Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Jim was born May 10, 1961 in Jamestown, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Jacob) Schmidt. He graduated from Edgeley High School in 1979. He worked at grain elevators in Edgeley, Wimbledon, and Rogers, ND. He also worked at Eco Lab and Lucas Manufacturing in Jamestown. Jim married Wanyce Cofell on July 7, 1984 in Edgeley and they had one daughter, Talane. He then married Shelly Horst on January 14, 1995 in Valley City and they had two children together, Cody and Cassidy. He later married Cindy Steele on January 30, 2008 in Jamestown. He also did various odd jobs to keep busy later. He was a very hard working man and had to always be busy doing something.
Jim enjoyed fishing and in his spare time he could be found fishing in any river or lake where the fish were biting. He was known for his sense of humor and smile.
Jim is survived by three children, Talane Schmidt, Breckenridge, MN, Cassidy and Cody Schmidt, both of Valley City, ND; his parents, Peter and Elizabeth Schmidt, Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND; three brothers, Philip Schmidt, Cummings, GA, Anthony Schmidt, Boring, OR and Lawrence Schmidt, Rogers, AR; two sisters, Mary Jane Raguse, Bismarck, ND and Vonda Lane, Aurora, CO; three stepchildren, Dakotah Steele, Shayla Steele and Dylan Steele, all of Valley City; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM, Monday, July 2, 2012 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Bart Davis officiating.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
Arrangements with Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND.
