Dale William Bayer was born February 28, 1934 at the Bayer farmstead west of Tuttle, the youngest of six children, of William P. Bayer and Minerva Jane (Mullins) Bayer. He attended the Norway School District until the 4th grade; he then attended Tuttle Public School graduating in 1952. Dale farmed with his farther until 1955.
Dale met Marvel Millie Clifford who was teaching in Tuttle at the time. On August 2, 1959 they married in Sanborn, ND. Dale then attended Valley City State University majoring in science, with an eye towards becoming an educator. He graduated in 1961. Dale and Marvel moved to Courtenay, ND, where both were educators. Dale completed his Master’s degree while teaching in Courtenay. Dale and Marvel moved to Jamestown in 1964 where he became elementary principal working at Franklin Elementary. Washington Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. During that time Dale and Marvel owned and operated the Tastee Freez restaurant for several years. Dale retired in 1995. Dale was caregiver to Marvel until her death in 1998.
He is survived by three sons, David (Donna Kaiser), Corey (Jodi), both of Jamestown, and Mark, Fargo; six grandchildren, Cody, Grant, Brooke, Travis, Isaac & Carson Bayer, all Jamestown; one great-granddaughter, Jordyn Heard, Jamestown; one brother, Bruce Bayer, Hudson WI; one sister, Lois Sedive, Minot, ND; two brothers-in-law, Robert Clifford, Bismarck and Art Herrick, Winona, MN; and special friends, Rand Ulrich, Fargo, ND, Jared Kaiser, Valley City, ND, Anita Berland and Laurie Hagen, both of Jamestown.
He was proceeded in death by his wife; parents; and three brothers, Glen, Clifford and Lyle.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, September 21, 2012 at Atonement Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Scott Block officiating.
Visitation: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Prayer Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 20, at the Eddy Funeral Chapel
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown
