Laura Wayne, 98, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, where she has been a resident since May 2006. Laura Herman was born June 14, 1914 on the family farm in Gerber Township, near Woodworth, ND, the daughter of John and Wanda (Petzke) Herman.

Laura Wayne, 98, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown, where she has been a resident since May 2006.

Laura Herman was born June 14, 1914 on the family farm in Gerber Township, near Woodworth, ND, the daughter of John and Wanda (Petzke) Herman. She attended rural grade school. Laura was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Home, ND. She married Harold Wayne on October 10, 1934. They lived on the Wayne family farm in Robinson, ND, where they farmed and had a trucking business. They moved to Jamestown in 1963 and were members of Concordia Lutheran Church. Harold passed away on Easter Sunday, 1969. Laura was employed by Hi-Acres Manor until her retirement in 1980. Edgar Hornung and Laura were married from 1979 to 1996.

Laura is survived by two daughters, Carole (Jack) Wahl, Billings, MT, Charlene (Roger) Schmidt, Minnetrista, MN; son, Darwin (Dora) Wayne, White Lake, MI; daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Wayne, Jamestown; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who had special love for "Aunt Laura."

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; son, Berdell; three brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Thomas Eckstein officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
