Evalyn Marie Johnson, Jamestown, ND passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on September 25, 2012. Evalyn Marie Bietler was born at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown on May 25, 1918 to Christian and Emma Bietler of Pingree, ND.
Evalyn Marie Johnson, Jamestown, ND passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND on September 25, 2012.
Evalyn Marie Bietler was born at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown on May 25, 1918 to Christian and Emma Bietler of Pingree, ND. She graduated from Pingree High School and in 1941 from Jamestown College. Evalyn taught school at Glenfield ND in 1941 and then went to Tulsa Oklahoma to teach Link Training (Flight Instrumentation) at the Spartan School of Aeronautics for three years. She returned to North Dakota in 1945 and became editor of the Jamestown Sun. That fall she married Willmar Johnson of Glenfield. They farmed at Glenfield until their retirement. Evalyn taught at the McHenry and Carrington Public Schools as well as piano lessons for many years. She was a member of the Glenfield Lutheran Church. She was active in the Senior Citizens and served on the South Central Council on Aging. Willmar passed away in 1994 and Evalyn moved to Jamestown in 1997.
She is survived by one son Herman (Linda) Johnson, Glenfield, ND; three daughters, Helena Johnson (Patrick Shannon), Vergas, MN; Enid (Gary) Thompson, Bismarck ND; Kristin (Dan) Walsh, Drakes Branch, VA; six grandchildren, Sara (Tony) Hoggarth, Keith (Amy) Johnson, EmaLee (Jason) Dressler, Luke Thompson, Kelsey Walsh and Tom Walsh, and nine great grandchildren, Hailey, Casey and Sam Hoggarth, Jacob, Josie and Kylie Johnson and Alexis, Gabriel and Nathan Dressler.
Preceding her in death were her husband Willmar and her parents.
Memorial Service: A Private Family Service
Interment: Eastman Cemetery, Glenfield, ND
