James "Jim" L. Lindegren, 90, Ypsilanti, ND, died Friday, October 26, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Jim was born July 5, 1922 in Jamestown, the son of Anton and Nora (Johnson) Lindegren. He received his education in Jamestown Public Schools. He entered the US Army on February 10, 1941 in Jamestown and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was the recipient of the Silver Star. Jim was honorably discharged on November 9, 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI. He returned to North Dakota, where he worked at the Jamestown Post Office. On March 18, 1949 Jim married Carole Homan in Carrington, ND. They moved to Oregon in 1953 where they raised their family and Jim worked in a plywood mill in Coquille, Oregon for 28 years. Upon retirement in 1984, they moved back to North Dakota, settling in Ypsilanti, where their home has been since. Carole died May 12, 2007.
Jim enjoyed grafting trees, was an avid deer hunter, and did gunsmith work. He loved to collect and was a collector of many items. He was a member of the Montpelier Lutheran Church, the Ypsi 50+ Club, and the Coos Bay Area District Council of L.P.I.W., where he held many offices.
Jim is survived by his son, John Lindegren, Coquille, OR; and niece, Noreen Olson, Bismarck, ND.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Hjordis on July 24, 2012; parents; and one sister, Delores Olson.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Montpelier Lutheran Church, Montpelier, ND with Pastors Terry Anderson and Lucinda Lien officiating.
Visitation: 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown
