William Singer

William “Bill” E. Singer, 83, Jamestown, formerly of Port Ludlow, WA, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown. Bill was born January 11, 1929 in North Smithfield, Rhode Island to Austrian immigrants, Fritz and Sophie (Schreiber) Singer. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI in 1946 and Tri-State University, Angola, IN with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

William “Bill” E. Singer, 83, Jamestown, formerly of Port Ludlow, WA, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown.

Bill was born January 11, 1929 in North Smithfield, Rhode Island to Austrian immigrants, Fritz and Sophie (Schreiber) Singer. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI in 1946 and Tri-State University, Angola, IN with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Following graduation in 1950, Bill joined the US Air Force where he flew fighter planes during the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force to join McDonnell Douglas Corp., where he was the Director of International Sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Bill married Elizabeth “Beth” Tordoff in Long Beach, CA in 1957. They lived in CA for many years and in 1984 they settled in Port Ludlow, WA. They resided there until moving to Jamestown in October 2012.

Bill loved animals, especially his two cats. He enjoyed flying and sailing and even built two of his own sailboats.

Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, Jamestown; sister, Claire, Seal Beach, CA; brother, Anthony, Huntington Beach, CA; brother-in-law, H.L. “Bud” Tordoff, Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred and Peter.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Thomas Eckstein officiating.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
