Ronald George “Porky” Ganser, 72, of Cleveland, ND, died Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home.
Ronald was born on May 4, 1940, in Jamestown, ND, the son of Edward George and Rose Margaret (Prodzinski) Ganser. He grew up on the family farm and attended Cleveland School. Porky entered into the US Army on December 2, 1958 and was discharged on September 2, 1960. He returned to the family farm north of Cleveland. Porky married Betty Bosche on October 28, 1966. He later married Marietta Schaffer on September 12, 1981 and they lived and farmed on the family farmstead.
Porky was a founding member and was very active in the Windsor Horse Club. He loved his farm, cows, horses, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite hobby was collecting antiques. Porky was always ready to help a friend or family member in need.
Porky is survived by his wife, Marietta Ganser, Cleveland; step-daughter, Michele (Kenny) McCoy, Mott, ND; step-grandson, Jake McCoy, Bismarck, ND; step-children, Rob Bridgewater, Jr., Rio Rancho, NM, Renee (Michael) Edwards, Council Hill, OK and Michelle Madewell, Council Hill, OK; sisters, Rita Jawaski, Dickey, ND, Rosalie Andres, Medina, ND, Carol Mack, Medina, and Edith (Jesse) Stoppleworth, Medina; brother, Vernon (Getty) Ganser, Broadus, MT; aunts, Bernice Fousek, Jamestown, and Mable Prodzinski, Seattle, WA; and many step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Eucharist of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Visitation: 9:00 a.m.to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Vigil: 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.
Burial: St. Pauline’s Cemetery, Windsor, ND, at a later date.
