Emlin Hansen

Emlin Hansen, 91, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown. Emlin was born January 23, 1921 in Flasher, North Dakota, the son of Walter and Anna (Larsen) Hansen. He graduated from Flasher High School in 1938. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 23, 1945, serving as a Seaman First Class until he was honorably discharged on July 23, 1946.

Emlin was born January 23, 1921 in Flasher, North Dakota, the son of Walter and Anna (Larsen) Hansen. He graduated from Flasher High School in 1938. He enlisted in the United States Navy on February 23, 1945, serving as a Seaman First Class until he was honorably discharged on July 23, 1946. He married Fern Danzeisen in Flasher on April 4, 1948. Emlin was baptized into Christ on July 5, 1953 at Lark, North Dakota. Emlin and Fern made their home in Flasher, where he managed a grocery store, until moving to Jamestown in 1957. He was confirmed in his Christian faith at Our Savior’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1959, and Our Savior’s became their church home for the next 53 years. Emlin worked as a postal clerk in the US Postal Service from 1959 until retiring in 1982.

Emlin is survived by three daughters, Arliss (John) Errera, Genoa, IL, Lila (Vernon) Rousu, Arlington, WA, and Jane (Lee) Murch, Jamestown; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers and two sisters; and numerous other family members.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, December 10, 2012 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor James Naumann officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
