Beverly Kurtz, 87, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown. Beverly Jayne Lien was born July 14, 1925, in Saxon, WI, the daughter of Agnes Lien. She was adopted by her maternal grandmother, Hanna Lien, after the death of her mother. She was raised and attended school in Ypsilanti, ND. Beverly graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1943.

Beverly Kurtz, 87, Jamestown, ND, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Beverly Jayne Lien was born July 14, 1925, in Saxon, WI, the daughter of Agnes Lien. She was adopted by her maternal grandmother, Hanna Lien, after the death of her mother. She was raised and attended school in Ypsilanti, ND. Beverly graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1943. She married Elmer Kurtz on December 28, 1947 at Ypsilanti Lutheran Church. They made their home in Ypsilanti where they farmed and raised their three children. Beverly taught at the Lien school near Ypsilanti, ran the Ypsilanti Cafe, and taught Sunday school. She also worked at the Anne Carlsen School for Children. After her husband’s death, she moved to Jamestown. Beverly worked for Alpha Opportunities, Inc. until she retired.

She enjoyed collecting dolls, quilting, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beverly is survived by one daughter, Katherine (Jim) Frank, Buffalo, NY; one son, Michael (Susan) Kurtz, Jamestown; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother; husband; daughter, Valinda Davis; and a daughter in infancy.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Ave Marie Village Chapel, Jamestown.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Burial: James Valley Cemetery, Ypsilanti, ND.
