Richard “Dick” Wescom, 84, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at his home under hospice care. Dick was born September 18, 1928 in Pingree, ND, the son of Harry and Mabel (Mino) Wescom.

Richard “Dick” Wescom, 84, Jamestown, ND, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at his home under hospice care.

Dick was born September 18, 1928 in Pingree, ND, the son of Harry and Mabel (Mino) Wescom. He grew up in the Pingree area and attended rural schools. On January 28, 1946 Dick married Dolores Lutz in Jamestown. He entered the US Army on January 18, 1947 in Chicago, IL and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge on July 16, 1948 he returned to North Dakota. Dick worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad for 10 years and the US Post Office for 30 years. He also farmed, which was the joy and love of his life.

Dick was a member of First Baptist Church, Jamestown and enjoyed reading as well as

farming.

Dick is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barb and Terry Bright, Eden Prairie, MN; four grandchildren, Faith DuBois, Kyle Bright, Matthew Bright and Kelly Bright; and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Harriet Wahl, Jamestown and Mary Heien, Iowa; and very special friends and neighbors, Marlene Schulte and family.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Jerome; daughter, Janice; one brother, Delbert; one sister, Donna and one grandson, Brent.

Funeral Service: 10:00 AM, Friday, January 25, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Wayne Bangs officiating.

Visitation: 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Burial: Pingree Cemetery, Pingree, ND
